Why does the first movement feel harder?

At rest, the tread may deform under load and the wheel–floor contact patch settles. Seals and bearings must overcome static friction. If swivel casters face different directions, their contact patches scrub sideways while the forks rotate into alignment.

How should starting force be tested?

Define dwell time, load, floor, caster orientation, handle height and the rate at which force is applied. Record the force–time curve when possible. A single peak without test conditions is difficult to compare.

Design response

Reducing steady rolling resistance alone may not solve poor start-up ergonomics. Wheel diameter, tread resiliency, caster offset, swivel-bearing design and equipment geometry all deserve review.
